A Seat For Every Dream: Armchair Project Brings Hope to Learners

In 2026, the journey of hope continues.  The OPEC MARIZON-led initiative, M Lhuillier, through OPEC Marizon, once again reached out to schools with its heartwarming program, “Inaasam na Upuan at Sandalan kay M, ang Tahanan," better known as the Armchair Project Turnover v5.0.

For many learners, classrooms are not just spaces for learning; they are arenas where they quietly face challenges far beyond their age.  Broken chairs, cramped spaces, and discomfort can dampen not only focus but also their dreams.  The Armchair Project transforms this reality by giving each child more than just a chair; it gives them dignity, comfort, and hope.

Every armchair delivered tells a story. It’s the story of a child who once struggled to concentrate on a broken seat, whose aspirations persisted despite discomfort, and whose potential deserves recognition. Today, these learners are provided with a safe space to sit, learn, and dream freely, a space where their future is taken seriously.

The impact goes beyond physical comfort. Classrooms often hide silent struggles, children managing emotions they cannot always express. By providing a supportive environment, the project offers a sense of security and encouragement, helping learners thrive both emotionally and academically.

The program’s recent turnover at Almacen Elementary School in Quezon Province reached hundreds of students, thanks to the generosity of M Lhuillier and the dedication of OPEC MARIZON. The handover was attended by Regional Manager Sir Ricardo P. Rioflorido, area managers, the regional audit manager, OPEC officers, and several SEL employees who made the event a success.

Beyond the armchairs, the initiative also extended support to families and communities. Through M Lhuillier’s QCL services, including jewelry, home, and car loans with low interest rates, insurance programs, and health support like Dengue Rx—the project reinforces a holistic approach to caring for learners and their families, showing that education is most impactful when communities are supported together.

 Sometimes, the simplest gestures, a chair, a supportive space, a heartfelt initiative, can carry the deepest meaning.  Through small acts of kindness like this, we help shape not just educated minds but resilient hearts ready to face the challenges of tomorrow.
