HISTORY

The ML Cares Foundation traces its roots to the long founded commitment of M Lhuillier to promote social responsibility. In 1998, the company created the LMC or Labor-Management Council with the primary objective of bridging the gap between the employees and its management and between the company and its stakeholders. LMC was governed by a group of employees ably assisted by the trusted officers of the company. This group was multi-faceted as a multitude of this group was spread out and working simultaneously across the archipelago. Not long after, the term LMC evolved into what is now known as Organizational Productivity Enhancement Committee (OPEC). In 2015, the company decided to create a body that will help and guide the OPEC groups into achieving their common goals more effectively and efficiently. Hence, the birth of ML Cares.

M Lhuillier Cares (ML Cares) Foundation Inc is a nonstock, nonprofit and charitable organization established to undertake projects and activities that benefit the depressed sectors of the society including, but not limited to the marginalized and poor individuals and those devastated from calamities either God-made or Man-made. It was lawfully enlisted in Securities of Exchange (SEC) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). It is established to continue the commitment of M Lhuillier to contribute to the economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families, as well as of the community and society at large. The foundation is managed by its own board of directors and the OPEC groups that serves as its implementing arm per region nationwide.

As the M Lhuillier brand expands tremendously, the number and reach of these committees have likewise become overwhelming. Today, there are now a total of forty seven (51) OPEC groups across the Philippines that work independently, but toward a common goal. ML Cares will collate the hundreds of educational, environmental, community assistance, livelihood and employee-enrichment or internal activities conducted by the OPEC groups and bring these selfless efforts into the limelight for the whole world to see.
