M Lhuillier once again demonstrated its commitment to uplifting underserved communities by providing much-needed educational resources to the Aeta community. Through its latest initiative, the organization delivered impactful support to Tarukan Elementary School, empowering both teachers and students to overcome challenges and embrace brighter opportunities for learning. On March 12, 2025, the company took a significant step by donating a generator to Tarukan Elementary School, located in Sitio Tarukan, an Aeta community near Mt. Pinatubo. This initiative, carried out by the OPEC Sugar Islands team, demonstrates M Lhuillier's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and addressing the needs of underserved areas.
The road to Sitio Tarukan was a test of resilience, with the team navigating the lahar-filled terrain of Crow Valley in a challenging 4x4 journey. Along the way, they met Aeta residents who often walk for hours to access basic necessities, inspiring the team to strengthen their resolve in bringing change.
The generator donation marks a transformative step for the school, which has long operated without electricity. With this new resource, teachers can now use modern teaching tools such as multimedia and digital platforms, creating a more dynamic and engaging learning environment. For the students, this initiative symbolizes hope and opens doors to greater educational opportunities.
Beyond the generator, the event included the distribution of backpacks and school supplies, fun games for the children, and a feeding program that provided meals for students and their families. These efforts highlighted a holistic approach to community support, addressing both immediate and long-term needs.
