Bright Eyes, Bright Minds
Bright Eyes, Bright Minds

This year, the “Better Eyes for Better Life” project was successfully implemented at Pamiga Elementary School in Agoncillo, Batangas, aiming to help students improve their vision and enhance their learning experience. Poor eyesight is often an overlooked factor that can affect a child’s ability to read and participate in class. Recognizing this, the project focused on identifying and addressing vision problems among students.
On March 9, 2026, in partnership with Dr. Romeo Briones Bayer, an ophthalmologist from RB Bayer Optical Clinic, students underwent comprehensive eye examinations. Teachers and members of the Parents–Teachers Association (PTA) also had the opportunity to get their eyes checked, emphasizing the importance of eye care for the entire school community.
Following the screenings, students who were found to have vision problems were identified as beneficiaries. Eyeglasses were officially distributed to qualified students, helping correct their vision and support their learning journey. The same event also featured an Eye Care Awareness Symposium, where Dr. Bayer shared valuable insights on proper eye care, the effects of excessive gadget use, and the significance of regular eye examinations.
The project was spearheaded by the MLhuillier OPEC Batangan team and the ML Cares Foundation, under the leadership of Charity Baet, OPEC President. Their guidance and collaboration with medical experts, school officials, and the local community were instrumental in ensuring the project’s success.
Through the Better Eyes for Better Life initiative, students gained access to clearer vision, which not only enhances academic performance but also improves overall quality of life. By addressing vision problems early and promoting eye care awareness, the project empowers students, teachers, and parents to take proactive steps toward healthier eyesight and a brighter future.
