Chairs of Hope for Young Learners
Chairs of Hope for Young Learners
January 16, 2026
OPEC Magayon is pleased to share the success of the “ML Chair of Hope” initiative, a meaningful program designed to improve school conditions and positively impact the quality of education for students. This initiative reflects M Lhuillier’s continued commitment to supporting communities and creating better learning environments for young learners.
For many years, the students and teachers of Bon-ot Elementary School, located in the coastal area of Matnog, Sorsogon, faced daily challenges due to broken and worn-out school chairs. These conditions caused discomfort among learners, making it difficult for them to focus during classes. Teachers, despite their dedication, also struggled to maintain an effective learning atmosphere while working with limited and damaged classroom furniture.
Recognizing this need, the OPEC Magayon team, led by OPEC President Ms. Sandra Rose Brogada, took action to bring meaningful change to the school. In a heartwarming act of generosity, the team officially turned over 36 sets of new school chairs and four ceiling fans to Bon-ot Elementary School on October 29, 2025. Although simple in form, the donation had a profound impact on both students and teachers, who had long hoped for a more comfortable and supportive classroom environment.
The turnover ceremony was attended by the area manager, OPEC officers, faculty members, and students, who prepared a short but heartfelt program to warmly welcome the guests and express their sincere gratitude to M Lhuillier. Smiles and excitement filled the school as students eagerly saw the new chairs that would soon replace those they had endured for years. Teachers also expressed their appreciation, noting how the new furniture and ceiling fans would greatly help improve classroom comfort and overall learning conditions.
More than just providing physical resources, the ML Chair of Hope initiative symbolizes care, compassion, and a shared belief in the power of education. The new chairs allow students to sit comfortably and focus better on their lessons, while the ceiling fans help create a cooler and more conducive learning environment, especially important in a coastal community.
Through this initiative, OPEC Magayon has once again demonstrated that small acts of kindness can create lasting change. The contribution not only addresses an immediate need but also inspires hope among learners, teachers, and the entire school community. With improved facilities, the students of Bon-ot Elementary School are now better equipped to learn, dream, and work toward a brighter future.
The success of this project stands as a reminder that when organizations and communities work together, meaningful progress in education is always possible.
