From Shoreline Care to a Future We Share

In a meaningful effort to protect the environment and strengthen community ties, M Lhuillier OPEC Sandugo Bohol Region successfully conducted a Mangrove Planting and Coastal Cleanup Drive on March 25, 2026, at Busalian, Jao Island, Talibon, Bohol. The initiative was carried out in partnership with the ML Cares Foundation, bringing together volunteers united by a shared purpose.

The activity was actively supported by the teachers and students of Busalian Elementary School, under the leadership of Head Teacher Mr. Sixto C. Garcia Jr. Joining them were Regional Manager Ian Almine, OPEC President Nolie Fudalan, and other OPEC officers, all demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship and community service.

A total of nearly 1,500 mangrove seedlings were planted during the activity, an important step toward restoring and protecting the coastal ecosystem. Mangroves play a vital role in preventing coastal erosion, supporting marine biodiversity, and serving as natural barriers against storms, making this effort a valuable investment in the environment’s future.

Following the planting activity, participants conducted a coastal cleanup along the shoreline of Jao Island. Volunteers collected plastic bottles, cigarette butts, and other types of waste, helping reduce pollution and promote cleaner, healthier surroundings for the local community.

This initiative reflects a strong and shared commitment to environmental stewardship, caring for today’s surroundings to secure a better tomorrow for future generations. It also highlights the organization’s proactive role in addressing climate change through collective action and community engagement.
