M Lhuillier, through the dedicated OPEC Kalayaan team, has launched another impactful initiative to promote sustainable farming. In collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the Trece Martires City Farmers Association Inc., the team successfully held the inspiring project, “Green Earth, Rich Soil: The Power of Composting,” at the beautiful 168 Farm in Purok 09, Brgy. San Agustin, Trece Martires City, Cavite.
The event began with a warm welcome from Mr. Alex L. Ferrera, President of the Trece Martires City Farmers’ Association. His message emphasized that caring for the Earth starts with nurturing the soil and encouraged the community to adopt eco-friendly farming practices.
Mr. Henry Villanueva and Mr. Rodel Gatchalian, both sustainable living advocates, gave engaging talks on composting and environmental responsibility, inspiring attendees to see composting not just as a method, but as a way of life.
Representing the organizers, Mr. Adonis Ballo-Allo (M Lhuillier OPEC Kalayaan) and Mr. Ruel P. Lungcay (OPEC Kalayaan President) reaffirmed their support for sustainable agriculture and farmer empowerment.
The highlight of the event was a hands-on composting workshop, where participants learned how and why composting is important—for healthier soil, better crops, and reduced chemical use. To cap off the day, attendees received vermicast soil and giveaways from M Lhuillier as tokens of appreciation.
“Green Earth, Rich Soil” was more than just a one-day event. It was a celebration of community, meaningful action, and the growing movement toward climate resilience and sustainable farming. With every compost pile turned, a new idea planted, and every participant empowered, the event showed that change starts small—but grows strong, one handful of soil at a time.
