Mission to Heal: Reaching Communities in Need

M Lhuillier OPEC Kalayaan, in partnership with Generika Drugstore, recently organized a medical mission titled “Mission to Heal: Reaching Communities in Need” at Barangay Poblacion IV-A, Imus, Cavite. This effort aimed to provide immediate medical support to residents affected by Typhoon Crising, which had recently brought heavy rains and disruption to the area.
The timing of the mission was critical. In the days following the typhoon, many residents were left vulnerable to common illnesses such as flu, fever, high blood pressure, diabetes, and other health concerns. Access to clinics and hospitals had become limited due to flood damage and transportation issues, making the outreach effort even more vital.
A total of 109 individuals received medical assistance during the event—77 of them adults and senior citizens, and 32 children. Each patient was given a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Roderick Mackay, who volunteered his time and expertise to serve the community. His presence was a key part of the mission’s success, providing not only medical care but also personal attention to each person’s health concerns.
To help patients begin their recovery, Generika Drugstore distributed free medicine based on the doctor’s prescriptions. This ensured that those in need had access to essential medications without the burden of cost—an important factor for families still recovering from the impacts of the storm.
M Lhuillier also provided additional support through small gift packs prepared for each patient. These included practical items like tote bags, bottled water, notebooks, towels, dried mangoes, and ML T-shirts. Free snacks were also served throughout the day, helping create a warm, friendly atmosphere for everyone in attendance. Despite the recent hardship, the event became a space of care, kindness, and community spirit.
Barangay Captain Perpetua F. Figueroa opened the program with words of gratitude and encouragement. She emphasized how much the mission meant to her constituents, many of whom had been struggling to access basic services after the typhoon.
“This medical mission could not have come at a better time,” Captain Figueroa said. “Our constituents have been hit hard by the recent typhoon, and we are grateful to M Lhuillier and its partners for bringing relief directly to our barangay.”
Ms. Arlyn Tizon, Area Manager of M Lhuillier–OPEC Kalayaan, also shared a brief message, highlighting the importance of teamwork and compassion in serving communities in need. She reaffirmed M Lhuillier’s commitment to going beyond financial services by supporting projects that bring real help to Filipino families.
This outreach effort is part of M Lhuillier’s broader mission to serve as “Ang Tulay ng Pamilyang Pilipino” — not just by providing remittance and financial solutions, but also by responding to real-life challenges that affect everyday people. Whether it’s through disaster response, health missions, or community development, the company continues to show that meaningful action is possible when people and organizations work together.
From free medical consultations and medicine to thoughtful gifts and a welcoming environment, Mission to Heal showed what genuine community care looks like. It was a day of healing, hope, and connection — and a reminder that help doesn’t need to come in grand forms to have a lasting impact.
