The journey to Cabugao Elementary School was long, but it carried a purpose that made every mile meaningful. The OPEC Last Frontier team traveled from Puerto Princesa City to El Nido to prepare for a sea journey to Coron, Palawan, bringing with them ML giveaways and a shared commitment to support a school community far from the usual paths.

The team continued their journey from the town of Coron to the island of Cabugao, a one-hour boat ride across clear waters. While Coron is known for its world-class tourist destinations, nearby island barangays like Cabugao live quietly and simply, often facing limited access to proper school facilities. This is the daily reality of Cabugao Elementary School and the community it serves.

On that day, hope arrived in a tangible form as M Lhuillier officially turned over a newly constructed Mini Covered Gym to the school. More than a structure, it symbolized a promise, one that reflects ML Cares’ dedication to supporting education and uplifting grassroots communities.

Designed to provide a safe and functional space, the Mini Covered Gym will now serve as a venue for physical education classes, school programs, and community gatherings, rain or shine. For the students of Cabugao Elementary School, it offers a place where they can move freely, express themselves, and learn beyond the four walls of the classroom.

School officials, teachers, parents, and students warmly welcomed the M Lhuillier team, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the project. In their messages, they shared how the new facility will help nurture not only physical development but also confidence, camaraderie, and a stronger sense of school spirit among the pupils.

In response, M Lhuillier representatives reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to community-building initiatives. They emphasized that investing in the youth, through safe spaces and proper learning facilities, is essential to creating a more holistic and meaningful educational experience.

The turnover ceremony concluded with the formal handover of the Mini Covered Gym, along with the donation of a computer set with a printer for teachers and ML school bags and notebooks for the “mula” learners. As the gym opens its doors, it stands as a silong para sa pangarap, a place where dreams are protected, nurtured, and given the chance to grow.
