Through its OPEC MAOGMA initiative, M Lhuillier proudly advanced community development in Balatan, Camarines Sur, with the turnover of its Rags to Riches Program. The ceremony underscored the company’s commitment to uplifting marginalized groups by providing practical livelihood opportunities.
The Rags to Riches Program is designed to provide sustainable income opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and solo parents by equipping them with practical skills and access to livelihood resources. Through this initiative, beneficiaries are given the tools and training needed to build self-reliance and long-term financial stability.
As part of the turnover, five sewing machines were officially handed over to the beneficiaries. These units will be shared and utilized by twenty program members, encouraging collaboration while maximizing productivity. The sewing machines will primarily be used for the production of rags, an accessible, practical, and income-generating product well suited to the group’s capabilities.
To further strengthen the program, M Lhuillier conducted a hands-on demonstration on proper rag-making techniques. This training ensured that the beneficiaries gained the necessary knowledge to produce quality outputs while efficiently operating the equipment. The activity also fostered confidence, participation, and a sense of ownership among the members.
Beyond providing equipment and skills training, M Lhuillier committed to supporting the beneficiaries in marketing and selling their finished products. This continued assistance plays a vital role in transforming the initiative into a sustainable livelihood, helping ensure that the participants’ efforts translate into steady income opportunities.
The Rags to Riches Program reflects M Lhuillier’s dedication to inclusive growth and community empowerment. By supporting PWDs, senior citizens, and solo parents in Balatan, Camarines Sur, the program promotes financial independence, dignity, and long-term self-reliance—reinforcing the company’s mission to uplift lives and strengthen communities through meaningful and sustainable initiatives.
