M Lhuillier Brings Hope to Students Through Pumpboat Project
October 26, 2026
For many students, going to school begins with a simple walk or a short ride. But for learners of Mohammad Ali Dimaporo Integrated School (MADIS) in Balas, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, the journey to education comes with a different challenge: crossing the water just to reach their classrooms. Despite the difficulties, these young learners continue to pursue their dreams with determination and hope. Recognizing their daily struggles, M Lhuillier, through OPEC Aurum Gems Zasurmis Region, launched “Proyektong Bangka sa Kinabukasan: Tulay ng Pag-asa at Edukasyon,” an initiative that aims to make the journey to school more accessible and convenient.
At the heart of the project is the turnover of a motorized pumpboat, providing students with a practical means of transportation to and from school. More than just a boat, it represents an opportunity for children to continue learning without allowing geographical barriers to stand in the way of their education. The turnover ceremony brought together school officials, education representatives, community leaders, and members of OPEC Aurum Gems Zasurmis Region. Among those who shared messages of support were MADIS School Head Jose Weavster J. Blanco, M Lhuillier Zasurmis Regional Manager Ludy H. Bantilan Jr., Public Schools Supervisor Jessie S. Tañola, and OPEC Aurum Gems Zasurmis Region President Melchora Sobrado.
The celebration was made even more meaningful with the distribution of M Lhuillier bags to MADIS students, bringing smiles and adding excitement to the occasion. Hon. Noemie E. Batersal, Education Committee representative, also expressed gratitude for the initiative, while Felipe Juntilla Jr. delivered the closing remarks. The ceremony culminated in a ribbon-cutting, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the school community. For the students and their families, the pumpboat offers more than convenience. It brings renewed hope that the daily journey toward education can become easier, allowing young learners to focus more on their studies and the dreams they hope to achieve.
Every journey across the water now carries something greater than passengers. It carries the aspirations of children who dream of becoming teachers, nurses, engineers, and future leaders of their communities. Through Proyektong Bangka sa Kinabukasan, M Lhuillier OPEC Aurum Gems Zasurmis Region reaffirm their commitment to supporting education and uplifting Filipino communities through meaningful initiatives. The project serves as a reminder that sometimes, making a lasting difference begins with helping a child overcome one obstacle at a time. One motorized pumpboat, countless dreams, and a future filled with possibilities.
