Spreading Love and Care: M Lhuillier's Visit to the Home for the Elderly

APRIL 3, 2024

In the spirit of a fresh start, M Lhuillier led by OPEC Zambas Vinta team embraced the notion that sharing is caring, particularly for those who may have felt neglected, sad, or unwanted. This was an opportunity to show love and appreciation to the elderly, who are often overlooked but deserve to feel valued, especially as they age.

On January 25, 2024, OPEC Zambas Vinta team continued their annual tradition of visiting the home for the elderly at Logoy Diutay, Talon-Talon Shelter in Zamboanga City. Their purpose was to bring joy and support to the residents of the shelter. The team generously donated sacks of rice, biscuits, and powdered milk, essential food items that would contribute to the well-being and nourishment of the elderly.

In addition to the food donations, the team also provided hygiene kits containing tissue, alcohol, toothpaste, and bath soap. These items are often taken for granted, but for the elderly, they are crucial for maintaining personal cleanliness and dignity. The thoughtful inclusion of hygiene essentials demonstrated M Lhuillier's commitment to addressing the holistic needs of the elderly residents.

The activity was spearheaded by OPEC President Herbert S. Garcia, in close coordination with DSWD Center Head Fatnohalda J. Padih. The team members, including Kathy Lyn P. Mina, Ruby S. Toca, Rene P. Armada, and Lebert U. Dapat, dedicated their time and efforts to make the event a success.

Within the establishment, 47 elderly individuals—23 females and 24 males—participated in the activity. Some of them were already scheduled to return home to be with their families, while others were still waiting and holding onto hope for a reunion. The presence of the OPEC Zambas Vinta team, their generosity, and their genuine care left a lasting impression on the elderly residents. The smiles on their faces and their expressions of gratitude were a testament to the impact of this visit and the blessings they received.

M Lhuillier’s commitment to supporting shelters like the Home for the elderly will endure in the years to come. This advocacy reflects their belief in the importance of showing compassion, respect, and solidarity with the elderly population. By extending a helping hand and spreading love, they are making a positive difference in the lives of those who may have felt forgotten or marginalized.
